While marketing materials often group them together, they refer to two completely different aspects of picture quality. Are they competing features, or do they work together?   • Verdict: A lower resolution screen with excellent HDR often looks better than a high-resolution screen with poor contrast.

Prioritize UHD if:

  • You use a very large screen or sit close to the display.
  • You use the screen for text-heavy work, coding, or detailed graphics.
  • You want the crispest possible image for gaming or sports.
  • Verdict: Resolution is king for clarity and defining edges.
